FAQ:
- Have you ever been to the Philippines? Asia?
- I've been to Asia once and that was to India during January of 2013. Never been anywhere else in Asia.
- Do you get paid?
- Yes. I get paid about $180 a month. That's a wage of a modest living in the Philippines.
- There is also a percentage of my student loans that get paid, and there is a lump sum received upon reentry.
- How did you get interested in the Peace Corps?
- It first hit my radar during high school as a means to see a different part of the world. Now I think of it as my productive time off from school.
- What are you doing when you get back?
- Most likely, graduate school.
- What are you doing "over there?"
- Working in the Coastal Resource Management program. I know no more than that, and I won't until training. From what I hear there is a lot of work with fisheries.
- Do you have to learn the language?
- Yes, I will be/am learning Tagalog.
-Joe
